TLD Introduction

The importance of country-level domain names is often underestimated by companies. Local (and localised) websites show your company's commitment to the local market and its customers. Websites in the country's local language, targeting the specific market, also enhances the relationship between a company and its customers.

Many people prefer local domain names, such as .nu for Niue, to generic ones like e.g. .com, they feel more comfortable learning about a company and its products in their local language. This not only creates trust between the customer and the company, it also helps the company to communicate more efficiently. Beyond that, in many countries people tend to first look up a local website of a company before they try the .com site (if tried at all), since this is expected to be in English, a language many people are still not familiar with.

Niue is an island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. It is commonly known as the "Rock of Polynesia", and natives of the island call it "the Rock".

Though self governing, Niue is in free association with New Zealand, and thus lacks full sovereignty. Queen Elizabeth II is Niue's head of state. Most diplomatic relations are conducted by New Zealand on Niue's behalf.
